Meet Coquette
For those of you coming a bit late to the table, allow me to introduce you to Coquette of http://www.dearcoketalk.com/. Coquette is on the fast track to becoming the twenty-first century’s Ann Landers; her bitchy, raw, coke-flavored advice is exactly what this Lost Generation needs.
Check her out, but make sure you’ve an hour or two to spare. Trust me, you’ll need it.

Where Do Monsters Come From, Mommy?
Paul A. Trout explores the question:
Let’s begin by looking at the most widespread and celebrated of all mythic monsters — the dragon. This creature, in one guise or another, appears in almost every mythology and has been the subject of many books and countless articles. Perhaps the most intriguing of these examinations is “An Instinct for Dragons” by anthropologist David E. Jones. Jones...

The Sexier You Are, the Bitchier They'll Become
I’m not sure what it is, ladies, but y’all have some serious hate for one another. Exhibit A from a study published in the research journal Aggressive Behavior:
When the subjects were exposed to a young conservatively dressed woman, they barely noticed her. But when the researchers’ confederate entered the room wearing revealing clothing, she drew intense hostility. The...

The Science of a Temper Tantrum
NPR:
Children’s temper tantrums are widely seen as many things: the cause of profound helplessness among parents; a source of dread for airline passengers stuck next to a young family; a nightmare for teachers. But until recently, they had not been considered a legitimate subject for science.
Now research suggests that, beneath all the screams and kicking and shouting, lies a phenomenon...

Lana Del Ray
Indie’s latest darling likes (or her handlers like) to invoke the past. It’s no mistake that she is often compared to Nancy Sinatra. Exhibit A:
What are your thoughts - is she the real deal or a nicely-packaged creation? Del Ray, and the buzz she’s created (both positive and negative), raises a fair question: when do looks cease to be a benefit, particularly in the world of...
